Brigham Young University

Fall ‘23 Internship

Abraham, Camden, Eli, Isaac, Jaxson, Matt, Nathan,

We are thrilled to welcome each of you as our interns for the upcoming semester from Brigham Young University. This semester promises to be an exciting and enriching experience, and I want to take a moment to provide you with an overview of what to expect.

At Councyl Capital, we are an emerging private equity firm with a focus on making strategic roll-up investments in the lower-middle markets. Our mission is to be at the forefront of innovative investments, and we are committed to providing value not only to your resumes but also to your personal career outlook. Private equity is a prestigious field because it allows us to shape and grow businesses, create jobs, and drive economic growth in the communities we serve.

Our flagship fund specializes in real estate, specifically in acquiring and managing mobile home parks. Manufactured housing is an incredibly lucrative asset class for several reasons, including its stability, consistent cash flow, and the opportunity to create value through operational improvements. You'll have the chance to learn firsthand why this sector is so attractive to investors.

As interns, your role will be pivotal in helping us achieve our vision. Throughout the semester, you will work closely with our diverse and accomplished team, which includes professionals from BlackRock, Hulu, JLL, CBRE, Bridge, Copia Capital, and more. Our board is comprised of fund managers with over $10 billion in assets under management, C-suite executives from Meta, Henry Schein, and chairpersons of publicly traded companies.

A bit about my background: I started my entrepreneurial journey by selling an app I developed to Twitter during high school. I went on to found a company focused on live streaming on the internet and later developed systems for food banks. In college, I ran a 50-person company from my dorm room. Now, I am founding a private equity venture with a 100-year plan.

During this semester, you will gain invaluable insights into buy-side finance and entrepreneurship. Your experience will extend beyond the traditional internship, as you'll have the opportunity to learn how to set up a fund, operate in the real estate sector, and access resources to start your own business.

The ultimate goal for each of you is to complete a transaction this semester. Importantly, the successful completion of a transaction is not contingent on a pass or fail in the course, but rather, it comes with the potential to earn carried interest. Carried interest is a coveted incentive in private equity, aligning your success with the firm's success.

As you embark on this journey with us, remember that we are here to support and mentor you every step of the way. Our team, our resources, and our vision are all at your disposal to ensure you gain a wealth of knowledge and experience. Your success is our success, and we are excited to see each of you grow and thrive in this dynamic industry.

Once again, welcome to Councyl Capital, and let's make this semester a transformative experience together. If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to anyone on the team.
